You are completely responsible for your life and your addiction to drugs and alcohol. You are responsible for both due to the thoughts and beliefs that you have about your life, others and especially about yourself, about your value and worth as a human being. It is your thoughts and beliefs and the self talk that is generated that is creating your experiences and life.
Being responsible we could also say that you choose your addiction to drugs and alcohol. You choose your addiction to drugs and alcohol because you created or choose to think certain thoughts and beliefs about your life, others and especially about yourself that attracted the substances into your experience. You needed the substances to numb the emotional effect of your thoughts and beliefs about yourself.
While you are responsible for and choose your addiction to drug and alcohol you also have the power to change, to transform your life and to stop using drugs and alcohol forever. You can transform your life and you need to know this. You have the power to choose to think differently, about life, others and especially about yourself. When you choose to think differently and more positively your life will change and transform.
When you decide and choose to change how you think, especially about yourself, you will no longer need the drugs and alcohol to fulfill the internal need for them and satisfy the negative self image that is the real cause of your addiction. When you choose to think and belief that you and your life matter, that you are good enough just as you are, you will draw into your life people, places and things that will support your new state of mind and its well being.
