What are liquid herbal extracts?
Liquid herbal extracts are herbs that have been processed in a liquid medium such as alcohol and water. The medium is used to extract the active components of the herb, as well as to preserve the herb. Because the herb’s active components have been separated from its indigestible cellulose, liquid extracts are often absorbed up to 40% better than pills and are faster acting. Tasting the herbs also facilitates additional biochemical and digestive action to support the herb’s absorption and function.
Why do you recommend full-spectrum liquid extracts?
Full-spectrum liquid extracts are favored by educated herbalists and have a longer history of safe and effective use. Medicinal herbs contain a wide array of active constituents that work together (synergistically), to help maintain and maximize your health. Instead of limiting the extract to only one ingredient, we concentrate the full naturally occurring beneficial biochemical spectrum in a standardized process.
How does a liquid serving compare to a pill?
A 30 drop serving has 333-1000 mg of herb depending on the item (amounts shown on each label). Liquids absorb almost immediately, whereas pills can be hard to digest, especially woody roots. Also you can vary the serving of a liquid drop by drop according to your needs, which you cannot do with a pill.
What do they taste like?
The tastes of extracts vary, but tend to be bitter. Therapeutically, bitter tastes increase digestive enzymes, thus increasing fat and protein digestion, an added benefit. Usually a week of daily use will acclimate the taste buds. Most of the taste can also be hidden in water or juice.
Why do you use alcohol and glycerin?
The use of pure grain alcohol in the extraction process extracts the components from an herb significantly better than water, glycerin or your own digestion. Some components are not soluble at all unless alcohol is used. The alcohol extraction creates the most absorbable and potent way to take an herb. Our alcohol-free glycerites are first extracted in alcohol for maximum potency. The alcohol is then removed and replaced with kosher vegetable glycerin, which sweetens and preserves the extract. Glycerites are generally easier for children and alcohol-sensitive individuals to take.
How much alcohol is in a serving?
Each serving contains about as much alcohol as a ripe banana, the equivalent of 1/10th of a teaspoon. The alcohol can be reduced by putting the serving in boiled water and letting it sit for a few minutes.
What are liquid veggie caps?
Liquid veggie caps are 100% vegetarian (vegan) alcohol-free, liquid-filled capsules. First, these herbs are slowly extracted and then concentrated. They are our highest potency herbal extract, have no taste, and are incredibly fast-absorbing like our liquid extracts.
